David Cooper

David "D.C." Cooper is originally from Johnson City, TN but moved to Michigan during his high school years and then joined the United States Navy to see the world. He was assigned to the U.S.S. Kitty Hawk as a barber, during that time he visited such exotic locales as Hawaii, the Philippines, and Hong Kong. At the end of this stint, he was offered the opportunity to stay in for an additional six months to see Australia. Seizing this opportunity, he soon found his way to the Middle East during the 1979 hostage crisis. The U.S.S. Kitty Hawk was the first aircraft carrier underway deployed to Iran.

Once David completed his tour of duty with the Navy, he returned to Tennessee and completed two years in the active reserves in Kingsport. He went on to obtain his cosmetology license and cut hair in the state of Tennessee.

David struggled with many internal demons during the course of his life, the worst of those being drugs and alcohol. With strict conviction and strong devotion, he was finally able to excise those demons in 1990 he won that battle. With this new lease on life, he regularly visits regularly with patients awaiting transplants to help them prepare mentally and emotionally for their procedure and recovery.
